Three states in one day...

I've been making jokes that teeth are optional in West Virginia. It seemed like every store I visited was filled with people, even younger people my age, (yes I'm still young) missing their teeth. As I drove around the south eastern state of West Virginia, I saw a lot of mining, rolling hills, tall, tall tree's and there was always a river wherever I went. As I drove through the winding roads and rolling hills, I could only wish it was fall, because with those tall, tall tree's and rolling hills, I'm sure West Virginia is GORGEOUS that time of year.

After finishing my routs in West Virginia, I had one stop to make in Williamson, KY. I must say that I was taken back with the small little town. It was nestled in the hills of Kentucky. It looked like an old mining town that has barely held on with the mining economy. It was quaint with it's small diners and hometown feel. Here are some pictures of the little town.

After Kentucky I headed back to Ohio. The drive was peaceful and serene. Just like West Virginia, the road always seemed to be along a muddy river. The drive was long and winding. It had been raining all day with rumors of a big snow storm. I was planning to meet an old friend from Williams, AZ in Columbus, OH. Her name is Camille Sacchini and she was in my ward in Williams. She and I were THE ONLY two married women in the ward without children. Obviously I still don't have children, but Camille now has two beautiful daughters. I was so excited to see her tonight!! Unfortunately she called to tell me the storm was getting really bad and that it probably wouldn't be safe to make it to Columbus. We had a good chat catching up on life's events over the last six years since she and I moved away from Williams. Hopefully we can catch up next time I'm in town.
So.....in the meantime, I'm resting up in Jackson, OH. The roads were getting pretty bad so I decided to pull over and get a room. The Weather Channel says Columbus already had 6-8 inches of show on the ground and I was only two hours away. I'm glad I stopped. Here in Jackson it's really coming down. I checked the flights for tomorrow and there is a winter warning from Columbus and my flight might be cancelled. OH the joy's of traveling!! Given the setbacks of the trip, I'm still SO GLAD I was able to come. I had never been to West Virginia, and I really enjoyed the scenery and the hospitable folk. If only the weather was as welcoming!

New Job...New Adventures

I can't decide if getting this job was random luck or some kind of piece to my puzzle in life. I interviewed for this job back in June and knew it was something I REALLY, REALLY wanted to do. I was VERY disappointed when I received the e-mail that the company had gone elsewhere, but would like to consider me in the future. OH WELL - Life must go on! I was working part time on building my property management business as well as a waitress at the Texas Road House when almost six months later I received an e-mail that a new position had opened and they would like me to come back in for another interview. I WAS SO EXCITED!!! This time I left the interview with the job! I can't go into too much detail about what I do, however my official title is, "customer service evaluator". I travel across the country from New York to Alaska evaluating customer service for large corporations. The perks are AWESOME and I get to do my favorite thing...TRAVEL! Talk about loving my job!

I'm actually on my first trip right now. Today I flew into Columbus, Ohio and drove to Ripley, West Virginia. It was dark while I drove and didn't see much until I crossed the border from Ohio to West Virginia. I can already tell West Virginia is some beautiful country! I can't wait to get up tomorrow and really check this place out...oh yeah, and get some work done too!!!
